What are thematic discussions?
The main format of the Balkan Dialogues activities so far were the round-table debates based on the principles of Chatham House, gathering high-level decision makers, as well as opinion and policy makers from the Western Balkans region, and a selected number of policy and opinion makers from the European Union institutions and member countries, as well as the USA. Every Balkan Dialogues round table thus far has been organized in a different country with the idea of organizing events in the Western Balkans region as well as prominent European capitals. Each event gathered more than 50 participants, predominantly hailing form the Western Balkan, with more than 200 high level decision and policy makers taking part in the events in total. Including: Edi Rama, Prime Minister of Albania, Stevo Pendarovski, President of North Macedonia, Albin Kurti, Prime Minister of Kosovo, Aleksandar Vučić, President of Serbia, Milojko Spajić, Prime Minister of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović, President of Montenegro, Wolfgang Ischinger, former Chairman of the Munich Security Conference, Ivan Krastev, Permanent Fellow, Institute for Human Sciences, Vienna, Italian Minister of European Affairs Vincenco Amendola, Ambassador Frank Wisner from the USA, Baroness Catherine Ashton, former E.U. High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy (2009- 2014), UK, among others.
